THE FUTURE? - According to our model, the Arctic becomes ice-free in late summer around 2050.
Climate models show that, due to extra carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, arctic surface air temperatures may rise 7 deg C by the year 2100.  If we give the model this warming, see what happens to the Arctic sea-ice.  Click on the year for future predictions of maximum and minimum Arctic sea-ice extent.
