| Marlene is a graduate student in Physical Oceanography at the
University of Washington. She completed her undergraduate degree
in Physics at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C and is now working
on meso-scale dynamics of the Adriatic Sea. She chose to study oceanography,
partly because of the travel opportunities associated with the fieldwork,
and partly because it's an interesting and relatively new science that
concerns the entire world.
As a member of the CTD team aboard the Polar Star, she will learn how to take salinity, temperature and depth measurements and learn how to survive on a boat for five weeks, the longest venture into the field for her. |
