Definition of SeasonsWe created a summer and winter climatology with a high quality Arctic Ocean by merging WOA 1998 analyzed fields with EWG analyzed fields, along with data from the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO). For an explaination of how this was done, refer to the Technical Details page of this site.
Why is winter March, April, and May?
---
PHC 3.0 is primarily AOA data in the Arctic Ocean, and the AOA climatology defines winter as March, April, and May.
