RGPS Science Working Group

The RGPS Science Working Group consists of a dozen or so actively participating scientists from various institutions around the country. The general responsibility of the working group is currently to advise the implementation team, led by Ron Kwok at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), regarding the type and quality of RGPS products.

The first RGPS meeting was held in April 1994 to discuss the possibilities for such a project, including the original RGPS proposal put forward by Rothrock, Kwok, and Stern. At the next meeting, in September 1994, several "white papers" covering other possible extensions of the RGPS were discussed (See Publications), and working groups were formed. In February 1995, the leaders of the working groups met and finalized the "version 1.0" RGPS products. At the next meeting in September 1995 at JPL, the status of algorithm development was reviewed, as well as RADARSAT coverage requirements. The most recent meeting was held in Victoria in August 1996.

The full RGPS e-mail list includes over 70 people.
