Available Data
Click on “GO” to see more info, basic graphics, and to download data for each buoy. The following quantities (reported hourly) are available:
1) Temperature at nominal depths (typically between 2.5 and 60 m).
2) Ocean Pressure at 1 or 2 nominal depths (typically 20m and 60m).
3) Sea Level Pressure
Data Format
There is one ASCII data file available for each buoy, updated weekly. The columns of the file are as follows: Year, Month, Day, Hour (UMT), Latitude, Longitude, Ocean pressure 1, Ocean Pressure 2 (if exists), Temperature at nominal depth 1, Temp at nominal depth 2, etc…, Sea Level Pressure, Battery Voltage. More specific details are given in the heading of each data file, and specifics are also given for each buoy via links in the tables below.
Caution!
We provide raw UpTempO buoy data here as a "rapid data service" to the community. However, as of October 2011 we are working through our quality control (QC) procedure. Preliminary analysis indicates that buoy thermistor data may have a warm bias of a few tenths of a degree Celsius, with a bias-corrected RMS error relative to CTD data of less than a tenth of a degree. We will have the QC'd data available ASAP. Thanks for your understanding.
These plots show satellite derived sea surface temperature and ice concentration from NOAA for the date stated. The 2.5m UpTempO temperatures are plotted and numbered on top. A gray dot indicates that the buoy is reporting an unrealistic temperatue value.
