The Trans-Arctic Expedition: The cruise will leave from Dutch Harbor, Alaska in the Aleutian Islands on August 5 and end in Tromso, Norway on Sept. 30. The cruise track will traverse the Arctic Basin via the North Pole (see map at right). Approximately 2 weeks of this leg will be conducted jointly with the Swedish icebreaker, Oden.
