Product I: Temperature and Salinity Seasonal Fields

We created a summer and winter climatology with a high quality Arctic Ocean by merging WOA 1998 analyzed fields with EWG analyzed fields, along with data from the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO). For an explaination of how this was done, reference the "PHC 2.1 Detailed Report". Also reference section 2 of the PHC 2.0 paper, which describes in detail the WOA and EWG (AOA) data fields. Be aware that some of the specific details in this paper have changed for PHC 2.1. For example, the "Arctic Region" was redefined, and data from BIO were added. The PHC 2.1 Overview describes these changes, and the reasons for them.

Definition of Seasons
Summer: July, August, September (JAS)
Winter: March, April, May (MAM)

Field Depths
For each season, there is a temperature and a salinity field for each of 33 depths.
These depths (in meters) are:

     0 400 1750
    10 500 2000
    20 600 2500
    30 700 3000
    50 800 3500
    75 900 4000
   100 1000 4500
   125 1100 5000
   150 1200 5500
