NPEO 2007 Aircraft CTD-Chemistry Survey

 

The NPEO 2007 hydrographic survey consisted of ten stations, measuring a CTD transect from the Pole along 135°W and along 90°E Longitudes as far as logistically feasible. Five Twin Otter stations recorded by the associated project Freshwater Switchyard of the Arctic Ocean in May 2007 attempted to add an additional the line nearly to Alert. This repeats similar sections recorded during NPEO 2001 and 2004.

The first cast at the Borneo logistics camp/runway serves as a station close to 89°N and 0°Longitude.

The Historical Trend in North Pole Hydrography shows the changes in salinity and temperature profiles at the North Pole since 1950 and through the NPEO surveys.

Data from the NPEO aerial hydrographic and chemistry surveys are permanently archived at the Arctic System Science (ARCSS) Data Coordination Center. Currently available are CTD Profiles and Seawater Chemistry.  These data plus certain preliminary data sets may be obtained via FTP at this website.
