NPEO 2010 Aircraft CTD-Chemistry Survey

The NPEO 2010 hydrographic survey consisted of eight stations, measuring a CTD transect from the Pole along 180° and along 90°East Longitudes as far as logistically feasible. Twin Otter stations recorded by the associated project Freshwater Switchyard of the Arctic Ocean in May 2010 attempted to add an additional line between the Pole and Alert. Similar sections were recorded during NPEO 2001, 2004, 2006, and 2008.

The first cast at the Barneo logistics camp/runway serves as a station close to 89°N and 0°Longitude.

Accumulated temperature and salinity profiles show the Historical Record of North Pole Hydrography since the 1950s.   Closely related projects are described at PSC Hydrographic Climatology and the Freshwater Switchyard of the Arctic Ocean.

Data from the NPEO aerial hydrographic and chemistry surveys are permanently archived at the Cooperative Arctic Data and Information Service (CADIS) and Arctic System Science (ARCSS) Data Archive.  These data plus certain preliminary data sets may be obtained via FTP at this website.
