I am a graduate student in Physical Oceanography, advised by Dr. James Morison from the PSC. I am interested in the large scale circulation of the Arctic Ocean. My research has focused on analyzing the temporal variations of ocean bottom pressure in the Arctic Ocean as measured by the satellite mission GRACE (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment), and also from in situ ocean bottom pressure recorders. I participated for the first time in the NPEO 2008 project to recover another year of stored data from the pressure sensors. These instruments are located at the bottom of the ocean near the North Pole, and provide the high frequency bottom pressure data that I am investigating for my research project. The goal of my PhD is to describe and understand the ocean bottom pressure temporal anomalies at different time-scales, from weekly to inter-annual, and identify characteristics of the circulation linked to such variations in pressure. I received my B.Sc. in Oceanography in Ensenada, B.C., Mexico, in 2004, and my M.Sc. in Oceanography in June 2008, at the UW.
