Step 6: Water sample
A Niskin bottle is used to collect a water
sample. The water will be analyzed for
salinity, barium, O18, and nutrients.
Mike releases the
messenger. When
it reaches the
Niskin bottle, it
triggers the lids at
both ends of the
bottle to close,
trapping the water
inside.
